Over 300 equine enthusiasts converged on Wilsonville June 22nd through 26th, for the
Early Summer Classic at Hunter Creek Farm. The popular Equestrian show was ‘AA’ rated
and featured the World Hunter Rider Show, a $20,000 Jumper Classic prize, and a $2,500 National Hunter Derby.
The traditional event drew prestigious riding groups and attracted top competitors from the West Coast and beyond. Visitors came to see the Hunter Derby and enjoyed the camaraderie of their fellow-horsemen with daily contests and lush evening entertainment. Hunter Creek Farm is known for its many hunter/jumper shows held during the summer season, including the famed Country Classic.
The area south of Portland is home to many equestrian training facilities including Oz from Canby. Many of the training barns participating offer special philanthropic programs for handicapped riders.
