Local Fashion Houses Host Benefit Show for “I Have a Dream” Oregon

Portland, February 5th, 2015. “I Have a Dream” Oregon and Amy Vining Photography presented a one-of-a-kind fashion show for teens and fashionistas of all ages. Dreamers Cheyanna, Evelyn, Abdi, Vanesia, and Vanessa showed off their looks by Gala Gowns and Myriam Marcela after the show. 12 high school Dreamer student models from schools throughout North and NE Portland and Reynolds High School walked the catwalk in local designs. More than 160 guests raised nearly $2,000 for “I Have a Dream” Oregon to empower students from low-income communities to succeed in school, college and career.

ABOUT “I HAVE A DREAM” OREGON

Since 1990, “I Have a Dream” Oregon has helped students in low-income communities with three proven core services: long-term relationships with caring adult mentors; access to wraparound services; and creating a “culture of college and career” within schools and Dreamer families. Their mission is to help students succeed in school, college and career. In Oregon, there have been more than 869 student Dreamers served since the first student class was ‘adopted’ in 1990, with more than 800 additional Dreamers currently served at the Nation’s first Dreamer School in outer SE Portland.
