From JDRF:
JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.
As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries.
The JDRF Oregon/SW Washington Chapter raises funds for research through Gala, Walks and the Ride Program. The Chapter also provides Outreach and Support Services to those children and adults living with Type 1 and their families. Another major part of the JDRF Mission is Advocacy activities is to push for continued funding of the Special Diabetes Program as well as increased and broader access to all for the T1D therapies needed. The efforts of JDRF Advocacy were an important in the process that led to a landmark decision by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services where it was agreed to provide Medicare beneficiaries with reimbursement for continuous glucose monitors. This means that more people than ever will be able to reap the benefits of state of the art diabetes technology.
Since 2001, JDRF has granted over $6.7 million for research taking place in Oregon.
JDRF no longer spells out Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation because of the large number of adults being diagnosed and living with type 1 diabetes. JDRF wants our constituents to know that we serve people of all ages living with and affected by type 1 diabetes.
