Diamonds & Denim Gala Will Benefit The Links, Inc.

Portand, OR. The Portland Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and the White Rose Educational Foundation are hosting a night of glitz and glam at the Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown Convention Center on April 26, 2025.

The return of this annual gala provides the perfect opportunity to put on your best denim and add a touch of sparkle with your favorite diamonds. Get ready to dance the night away, enjoy delicious food, bid on fabulous auction items , all while we celebrate some of Portland’s finest student scholars and raise money for future scholarships and community programming.

Scholarship Opportunities

For more than 50 years, it has provided over 700 scholarships to high school seniors.

From The Portland Chapter is part of The Links: Incorporated, an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of 15,000 professional women of color in 285 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

We recognize and reward high school seniors who have demonstrated scholastic potential, high achievement, and leadership ability. Applications for scholarships are posted in February.

Committed to service through friendship in the Portland and SW Washington areas since 1957.

The Links is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

Mission

The Links, Incorporated is a volunteer service organization of concerned, committed, and talented women who, linked in friendship, enhance the quality of life in the larger community. The organization is concerned primarily with enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the identities, culture, and economic survival of African Americans and persons of African descent.

To contribute to the formulation of a positive, productive, and culturally diverse society, The Links, Incorporated also focuses on education, cultural enrichment, health and wellness, and civic involvement. This focus is implemented through strategies such as in public information and education, economic development, and public policy

What We Do

The Links, Incorporated has five facets:

  • Health and Human Services

The programs are implemented through strategies such as public information and education, economic development, and public policy campaigns. For 60 years, the Portland Chapter has awarded Educational and Arts Scholarships to graduating African American high school seniors who have demonstrated scholastic potential, high achievement, and leadership ability.

Recent Programs

Donor Sabbath

National Donor Sabbath was Sunday, November 10. Our Linkages to Life National Signature Program observed our annual National Donor Sabbath Day of Service. This National Day of Service has become the cornerstone of Linkages to Life programming throughout our Organization. We met at 11am at Allen Temple, to hear about the importance of organ/tissue transplant or blood transfusion, from a living donor recipient.

Link Up the Vote

Voter Information Session

Along with The League of Women Voters, The Portland (OR) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and the NPHC Portland Alumni Council held a free, engaging and informative voter information session on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 6:30pm-8:30pm. Event was held in person at the Law Offices of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt (lead sponsor) as well as via Zoom.

We learn about the November ballot initiatives, Portland’s move to rank choice voting and the upcoming changes to Portland’s government structure.

Walk for Healthy Living

29th Annual Walk-A-Thon
