Windermere Stellar Kicks Off 2017 with $50,000 Gift to Bridge Meadows
Portland, OR. Windermere Stellar‘s annual kickoff included presentation of a $50,000 check from the Windermere Foundation to Bridge Meadows, a nonprofit that develops and sustains intergenerational neighborhoods for adoptive families of youth who were formerly in foster care. This is in addition to the $100,000 donation that was presented to the group last year to help fund its Beaverton, Ore. location. This effort is a continuation of Windermere Stellar‘s commitment to community.
The Windermere Foundation raised more than $360,000 for local low-income children and families in 2016. Rise to the Challenge — a year-long competition between each Windermere Stellar office to raise money for the Windermere Foundation — contributed to this. The winners of the competition were recognized at the event, with Windermere Stellar’s northeast office taking the prize, having raised over $55,500 over the course of the year.
“By bringing charity to the forefront of the event, we are keeping the fundraising momentum high and starting the new year on a giving note,” said Joan Allen at the March 2nd event, Windermere Stellar Co-Owner and Windermere Foundation Co-Chair.
Three pieces of artwork were then auctioned off to benefit the Windermere Foundation. The art had been created during a multi-stage process by posing the question “what does home mean to you?” with each painting reflecting the variety of responses from Windermere Stellar brokers and staff. In total, the three paintings raised $3,225 at the event, benefitting the Windermere Foundation.
The kickoff event was rounded off by a group of agents providing tips and inspiration via TED talk style presentations. Windermere Real Estate Chief Economist, Matthew Gardner, closed the day by sharing his 2017 economic forecast, which identified key trends in Oregon and southwest Washington’s real estate market.
