OSU Night at the Oregon Symphony

OSU Night at the Oregon Symphony

Portland, April 2nd, 2016. OSU President’s Circle members and university friends came together for a swingin’ tribute to ol’ blues eyes: Frank Sinatra. Platinum-selling artist, Curtis Stigers, joined the Oregon Symphony to celebrate what would have been Sinatra’s 100th birthday with some of his greatest hits as well as renditions of Gershwin, Porter, and Kern. More than 100 of the OSU Foundation‘s guests, including Tiffani ’89 and John Bettendorf ’88, gathered at the Picnic House for a private reception prior to the nearly sold-out concert in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The reception brought together OSU President’s Circle members, Oregon Symphony leaders, Pops conductor Jeff Tyzik, and other special guests – including Benny Beaver. Guests also had the opportunity to hear the OSU music students perform prior to the concert. (Photo credit, AJ Meeker)

From OSU:

The OSU Foundation is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1947 dedicated to enhancing the mission of Oregon State University. The Foundation is governed by a 42-person Board of Trustees.

To help the university reach its goals, the OSU Foundation aspires to develop into one of the premier public university fundraising programs by capitalizing on past successes, an engaged alumni community, and the experience of existing and new professionals.

On December 31, 2014, the Foundation concluded The Campaign for OSU, the university’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign, in which more than 106,000 donors made gifts exceeding $1.1 billion to advance university priorities. The powerful momentum generated by their support has fueled Oregon State’s rise as an internationally recognized public research university. Fundraising efforts are now focused on targeted special initiatives that advance OSU’s  strategic plan  for creating transformative student learning experiences and building on its greatest strengths and areas of greatest potential impact, such as marine studies.

The Foundation works with university partners to:

  • Raise funds in excess of $100 million per year that support the university’s priorities
  • Cultivate and steward a culture of philanthropy for the Oregon State community
  • Manage an endowment of more than $510 million
  • Engage alumni in service to the university

OSU Foundation Vision

The Oregon State University Foundation is a trusted and highly effective partner in advancing OSU’s land grant mission of learning, discovery, and engagement through efficient and strategic use of the Foundation’s relationships, expertise, and resources.

Mission

The Oregon State University Foundation strengthens the university’s capacity to broaden access to high-quality higher education, push the frontiers of knowledge, contribute to Oregon’s prosperity, and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the state and the nation. It does so through advocacy, fundraising, investment management, and stewardship and as the IRS 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation charged with receiving and administering private gifts for the university.
