Portland, OR. After a few years’ hiatus, Playworks Pacific Northwest brought back a fan favorite, Footgolf. A combination of golf and soccer, the Footgolf event brought out close to 100 participants and 20 teams battling for the win while raising awareness about the organization’s impact on elementary schools across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
The event took place at Glendoveer Golf Course on May 22nd. The winning team was a group of employees from The Standard (seen above). Raising a total of $23K, donations will help Playworks continue to create a space on the playground for every kid to feel included and build valuable social skills.
Playworks has supported schools by working to keep kids playing virtually and in hybrid settings while helping to prepare for when they return to full-time in-person instruction.

Footgolf is a family-friendly event to raise awareness of Playworks Pacific Northwest’s impact on elementary schools across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska.
FootGolf (sometimes referred to as, “soccer golf”) is a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf. The game is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened holes with 21-inch diameter cups. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. This sport is a relatively new concept (since 2008), and is being played at golf courses throughout the world.
Playworks Pacific Northwest, a leading non-profit organization founded in 1996, leverages the power of play to transform children’s social and emotional health throughout Oregon, Washington and Idaho schools through year-round, and on-site support services, creating healthy environments for kids through recess. Through Playworks programs, they reduce bullying and enable social-emotional learning by leveraging the power of safe, fun, and healthy play at school every day. Creating a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills, Playworks is helping grow healthy and happy youth. Over the 2020/2021 school year, Playworks is providing two school districts-seven total schools, across Oregon and Washington, with direct services, impacting the lives of 3,150 kids daily. Additionally, the non-profit has impacted more than 18,450 kids in the past 8 months through professional development training and digital support services across the region. Plaworks has provided services in 15 school districts across Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska and impacts over 21,850 students and more than 960 staff/teachers annually.Â
Portland, June 20th, 2014. They kicked it up a notch at this fundraiser to benefit kids. The winners of the kickball tournament were a dream team from the offices of the Trail Blazers and Timbers/Thorns organizations (aka Timbzers). They beat a team from Adidas US by a score of 3 to 1. Â Adidas US did win the spirit award. The Playworks Corporate Kickball Fundraiser is an employee engagement event and benefit for Playworks Pacific Northwest. This year alone Playworks Pacific NW is providing full-day on-site programming to 15 public elementary schools in the Portland metro area and serving 6,500 students daily.

The  feisty Tektronix team won the Golden Trophy and title of 2013 Playworks Corporate Kickball Champion. (photo credit, Nicole Ishida) Playworks 4th Annual Corporate Kickball Fundraiser drew top Portland employers to to the PCC Rock Creek Campus including:  lead sponsor – hubbub health, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Columbia Sportswear, Moss Adams, Randall’s Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, Kohl’s, Nike, Keen, Schwabe Williamson, & Wyatt, Salesforce.com, Kaiser Permanente, and Waggener Edstrom. Over 200 supporters turned out for the friendly kickball tournament to benefit Playworks, a national non-profit dedicated to physical activity and anti-bullying in schools. The event raised a record-breaking $41,950 in donations to benefit 13 Portland area schools.

Additionally, hubbub recognized an individual embodying the spirit, passion and energy of the day while promoting collaboration and teamwork. hubbub chose to honor Paul Davis of Waggener Edstrom by donating an additional $500 on his behalf. Playworks also recognized exceptional spirit and gave the spirit award to Kaiser Permanente for outstanding sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
“Playworks mission embodies what hubbub health hopes to achieve – increased activity and inclusion in wellness initiatives,” said Director of Business Development Brian Berchtold. “The goal of the day was to play and have fun. I’m very proud of our hubbub team who made it to the finals this year. Not only did we win a few games, but we had fun along the way.”

Portland, October 8th. The Timbers’ “Stand Together Week ” is drawing more people into nonprofit work. Organized with the help of Hands On Greater Portland and supported by adidas, Alaska Airlines, Fred Meyer, JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, and KPTV, Stand Together Week includes 40 projects across the Portland metro area benefiting more than 30 nonprofit organizations focused on youth and the environment.
The projects and volunteer opportunities affiliated with Stand Together Week range from leading youth activities to outdoor/garden maintenance and construction projects. In total, Stand Together Week will bring together nearly 1,000 volunteers, including Timbers players and staff, supporters and members of the community.
